Salary:
$127,507 - $160,911 (salary commensurate with experience) Positions located within the New York City metropolitan area, as well as Suffolk, Nassau, Rockland, and Westchester Counties, are also eligible to receive an additional $4,000 annual downstate adjustment.

This is an appointment to a position in the exempt jurisdictional class. Appointment to this position is pending Governor Appointment's Office and Division of Budget approval. The Department of Financial Services is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Deputy Superintendent for Consumer Examination Unit in the Consumer Examination Unit. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manages and advises on legal matters arising out of Department consumer protection supervision, including advising on potential violations of laws and regulations, licensing applicants, drafting original examination materials, and resolving change of control requests;
- Researches and advises on legal issues arising out of Consumer Compliance & Fair Lending examinations, Community Reinvestment Act evaluations, and student loan servicer examinations;
- Reviews reports on examination;
- Recommends and executes policy priorities;
- Drafts and implements regulations and legislation affecting the Department;
- Drafts DFS comments on proposed federal regulations;
- Conducts statistical analysis of mortgage lending for Department redlining investigation;
- Trains Department examiners; and
- Supervises summer Consumer Examinations legal interns, and
- Other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications
- At least 11 years of relevant work experience, of which two years of experience must have been at a managerial level.

Associate degree may substitute for two years of specialized experience; bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience; master's degree may substitute for five years of specialized experience; J.D. may substitute for six years of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for seven years of specialized experience.
