Manager -Operations Accounting
Job Description
Operations Accounting Manager Our client, a commercial real estate organization, is seeking an Operations Accounting Manager to oversee property accounting, financial reporting, process improvement, and team development for a sizable portfolio.
Location:
Austin, TX. This role is on-site. This highly visible role will partner with operational and corporate leaders to strengthen accounting processes, improve reporting quality, and support sound business decisions. The ideal candidate combines strong property accounting expertise with hands-on leadership and a continuous-improvement mindset.
Responsibilities:
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting Review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial statement fluctuations Oversee accounting for an assigned property portfolio, including lease accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and property-level variance analysis Manage tenant operating expense reconciliation processes, including budgets, annual true-ups, and related reporting Prepare financial analyses and supporting schedules for internal and external reporting requirements Partner with operational and corporate stakeholders to explain financial results and resolve accounting matters Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and documentation standards Evaluate accounting systems, reporting tools, and workflows to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability Lead automation, system enhancement, process standardization, and other strategic accounting initiatives Manage, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals while promoting accountability and operational excellence
Requirements:
Progressive accounting experience with significant responsibility for property accounting, financial reporting, and close management Commercial real estate experience with a strong understanding of lease accounting and property-level financial activity Experience managing tenant operating expense reconciliations, annual true-ups, and related recovery calculations Demonstrated success leading and developing accounting teams while coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders Strong systems, analytical, communication, and process-improvement capabilities; CPA preferred
