Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Accounting Manager responsible for all aspects of the program.
Supervisory responsibilities:
Manages bookkeeping and accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation. Recruits and hire accounting and bookkeeping staff and conduct performance evaluations. Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.Duties/Responsibilities:
Accounting Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to: Establishing internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation. Performing general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department. Preparing business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets. Preparing periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements. Maintaining the general ledger. Coding invoices, setting up new accounts, reconciling accounts, and closing the monthly books. Reconciling bank accounts at least monthly, verifying deposits, and addressing inquiries from banks. Reconciling client accounts and managing accounts receivable collections. Verifying payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensuring payments are charged to the appropriate accounts. Providing outside auditors with assistance; gathering necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit. Providing financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations. Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements. Filing required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies. Coordinate with software vendor, Sage Intact, to maintain accounting software system; recommending updates to enhance the accounting software. Performing other related duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting. Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. Highly proficient with accounting software. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required. Eight years or more of related experience required.Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.Pay:
