Cost Accounting Manager, Decision Support Location:
Onsite -
Dover, DE Area Position Type:

$111,155.20 - $172,286.40 per year Position Overview The Senior Manager of Financial Decision Support & Cost Accounting is responsible for the management and oversight of the healthcare cost accounting system used for service line profitability analysis. This role leads the decision support function, manages productivity systems, and oversees reporting to external rating agencies (including S&P, Fitch, DAC, and EMMA). The Senior Manager leverages decision support systems to guide major strategic and financial planning projects, publishes monthly profitability reports, evaluates financial feasibility studies using STRATA software, and assists in the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the STRATA rolling forecast module.
Key Responsibilities Financial Modeling & Feasibility Analysis:
Develop financial feasibility, cost, and reimbursement templates using STRATA software. Calculate critical financial metrics including Return on Investment (ROI), Payback Period, Net Present Value (NPV), and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) to evaluate competing capital projects.
Service Line & Practice Reporting:
Publish monthly service line Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, physician practice P&Ls, and physician performance scorecards. Establish routine review meetings with executive leadership to analyze profitability and develop corrective action plans for unfavorable budget variances.
External & Regulatory Reporting:
Compile and submit financial data required by rating agencies (S&P, Fitch, DAC, EMMA), annual insurance renewals, surveys, FEMA reimbursements, Single Audits, Graduate Medical Education (GME) reporting, annual financial audits, cost report filings, and community benefit reporting.
Productivity & System Oversight:
Manage productivity tracking systems and train department managers and directors on interpreting and utilizing productivity software. Manage ad-hoc financial reporting requests across the organization.
Strategic Systems Implementation:
Oversee decision support software implementations and enhancements, including components of ERP systems, leasing software, and the ongoing implementation and maintenance of the STRATA rolling forecast module.
Leadership & Mentorship:
Directly mentor and guide the Supervisor of Decision Support and Special Projects Analysts, driving team growth and technical proficiency.
Operational Decision Support:
Provide data-driven analysis and documentation to support operational and administrative decisions impacting labor utilization, budgeting, and overall financial performance.
Other Duties:
Perform additional financial analysis and management tasks within the scope of the role as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in cost accounting, budgeting, and/or decision support within a healthcare environment.
Technical Skills:
Hands-on experience with STRATA financial software (including STRATA Jazz) or an equivalent healthcare financial management system.
Work Location:
Ability to work on-site in the Dover, DE area.
Preferred:
Education:
Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Health Administration (MHA).
Certifications:
Relevant healthcare or financial management certifications (e.g., CHFP, CPA, CMA).
Specialized Experience:
Prior experience in hospital/healthcare contracting, reimbursement methodologies, bundled payments, and physician reimbursement models. #
