Job Description

Accounting & Tax ManagerPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Accounting & Tax Manager to lead accounting operations, ensure accurate bookkeeping, and manage tax compliance and planning. The role combines technical accounting and tax expertise with team leadership and process improvement to deliver timely financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and minimize tax risk while optimizing tax positions.

Key ResponsibilitiesManage day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.

Prepare, review, and deliver accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with GAAP and company policies.

Oversee tax compliance and filings for federal, state, and local jurisdictions, including preparation and review of corporate, partnership, and payroll tax returns where applicable.

Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and support business decisions.

Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff; assign tasks, review work, and provide performance feedback.

Coordinate with external auditors and public accounting firms during audits and reviews; prepare supporting schedules and respond to inquiries.

Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and internal control enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Ensure timely responses to internal and external stakeholders, including management, regulators, and tax authorities.

Manage cash flow reporting, budgeting support, and liaison with payroll and accounts payable/receivable as needed.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards, tax law changes, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.5+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated expertise in bookkeeping, financial reporting, and tax compliance.

Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and proven experience preparing and reviewing tax returns.

Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.

Experience in public accounting and/or prior managerial experience is a strong plus.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.

Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional standards.
