Job Description:
Chief Investment Officer Confidential Family Office | South Florida / Remote A private family office is seeking an experienced Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead the management of a sophisticated, investment portfolio. This is a highly entrepreneurial opportunity for an investment professional who can build and lead the investment function while serving as a trusted advisor to the principals.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead overall portfolio strategy, asset allocation, liquidity management, and ongoing investment monitoring. Manage a diversified portfolio across liquid markets, private investments, external managers, and select direct/co-investment opportunities. Develop and execute hedging, downside protection, and capital preservation strategies. Manage portfolio liquidity and collateral risk in support of the family's financing activities. Source, evaluate, underwrite, and monitor external investment managers and direct investment opportunities. Establish investment processes, risk frameworks, reporting standards, and performance monitoring. Advise the family and operating businesses on capital allocation, financing, reinvestment, and valuation matters. Partner with external tax, legal, and financial advisors to ensure investment decisions align with broader family objectives and structures. Ultimately build and lead the family office's investment team and function.
Qualifications:
10+ years of senior-level investment experience managing portfolios of comparable scale. Prior CIO, Deputy CIO, Senior Portfolio Manager, Family Office, Endowment/Foundation, or Private Wealth experience strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field; CFA and/or MBA preferred. Demonstrated expertise in portfolio construction, diversification, hedging, derivatives, and capital preservation. Strong experience across liquid markets, private markets, manager selection, and direct/co-investments. Proven ability to manage liquidity, collateral, and portfolio risk through varying market conditions. Strong analytical, quantitative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
