POSITION SUMMARY
The Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the revenue cycle, including billing, collections, charge capture, denial management, and payment posting. This role ensures accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in revenue cycle processes, while supervising a team of billing, coding, and collection staff. The RCM Manager collaborates with clinical and administrative teams to resolve issues, improve workflows, and support the organization's financial performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Revenue Cycle Oversight Supervise day-to-day activities in patient billing, collections, insurance follow-up, and payment posting. Monitor accounts receivable, claim denials, and collection effectiveness. Ensure timely and accurate processing of claims, payments, and adjustments. Team Supervision Provide leadership, coaching, and training to billing, coding, and collections staff. Assign tasks, monitor productivity, and conduct performance evaluations. Support staff development and promote a positive team environment. Compliance and Reporting Ensure compliance with payer rules, HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements. Assist in preparing revenue cycle performance reports and metrics for management review. Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation. Collaboration & Process Improvement Work with clinical and operational teams to resolve billing and coding issues. Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to streamline workflows. Participate in the implementation and optimization of billing systems and revenue cycle tools.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong understanding of healthcare billing, collections, reimbursement, and denial management. Proficiency in revenue cycle software, EMR systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Effective supervisory skills, with the ability to coach and motivate team members. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities. Knowledge of compliance requirements, payer guidelines, and revenue cycle best practices.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct supervision of Revenue Cycle Management staff.
