Role and Responsibilities The Accounting Manager is the on-site owner of Atomic-6's accounting operations and monthly financial reporting. The role directs an outplant bookkeeper, processes bi-weekly payroll through a PEO, produces the monthly financial package, and extracts and reconciles financial data from the MRP system. There are no direct reports at hire. Hours may start below a full-time schedule and are expected to increase to full-time as order volume and plant activity grow.
Primary duties include:
- Direct the outplant bookkeeper: close calendar, workpaper standards, account reconciliations, accruals, and correction of coding errors.
- Own the monthly close and deliver a complete financial package to the COO (income statement, balance sheet, cash, and variance commentary) using Excel and PowerPoint.
- Run and reconcile financial reports from the MRP system, including job cost, work-in-process, inventory, and order-to-cash or cost-to-complete views as used by operations.
- Process bi-weekly payroll through the company
PEO:
collect and validate time, enter approved changes, review the pre-process register, and confirm transmission. Payroll changes require documented approval before entry.
- Coordinate with the outplant CPA on tax filings, year-end workpapers, and technical accounting questions.
- Maintain the chart of accounts, close checklist, and filing of bank, PEO, MRP, and CPA records in the company electronic system.
- Support accounts payable and receivable discipline with the bookkeeper so vendor and customer balances stay current.
- Flag out-of-tolerance conditions in cash, inventory, job cost, or payroll and recommend corrective action to the COO.
- Travel to the Kennesaw, Georgia plant as required for close support, inventory questions, and operations reviews.
- Protect company financial data and export-controlled information in accordance with company policy. Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum qualifications required for eligibility for this role.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including month-end close and financial statement preparation.
- Demonstrated experience directing or reviewing the work of a bookkeeper or external accounting firm.
- Working proficiency in Quickbooks Online, Excel, and PowerPoint sufficient to build a monthly management package without a template owner.
- Experience processing payroll in a PEO or comparable payroll system.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a small, dynamic team environment with minimal oversight. Preferred Skills and Experience The following are used as discriminators for candidates that exceed the basic qualifications above.
- CPA or active CPA candidacy.
- 7+ years of accounting experience in manufacturing, job-cost, or inventory environments.
- Direct experience extracting and reconciling financial data from an MRP or ERP system.
- Experience supporting a multi-site operation.
- Familiarity with inventory, work-in-process, and job-cost accounting.
- Experience coordinating year-end work with an external CPA firm.
Additional Requirements Ability to work flexible hours on-site at Wildlight to support close, payroll, and production schedules. Travel to Kennesaw, Georgia is required as needed to support reviews with CEO.
