The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the company's financial records. This role plays a key part in the monthly close process, supervises a team of staff accountants, and supports management through financial analysis, process improvement, and strong internal controls appropriate for a private company environment. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing execution with team leadership in a fast-paced, operationally focused organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee and coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring deadlines are met, and financial information is accurate and complete Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by staff accountants Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers Perform financial and variance analysis and prepare internal management reporting Assist with annual budget preparation and analysis of budget-to-actual results Maintain, document, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls appropriate for a private company Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting standards Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and strengthen controls Collaborate with operations and other departments to support business and reporting needs Supervise, train, and develop staff accountants, including task delegation, coaching, and performance feedback Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned Other duties may be assigned as necessary
Education/ Work Experience/Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on month-end close responsibilities Strong working knowledge of
U.S. GAAP
Prior experience supervising or leading accounting staff preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with large data sets Experience working with ERP accounting systems; NetSuite experience preferred Experience in a private company, distribution, or operational environment is a plus Familiarity with ERP accounting systems; NetSuite experience a plus Self-starter, goal oriented and have a high level of energy. Excellent oral and written communication skills and organization
