Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to lead core financial operations and support sound fiscal decision-making in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role oversees day-to-day accounting activity, strengthens reporting accuracy, and helps guide budgeting, compliance, and funding-related financial planning. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, deep accounting knowledge, and the ability to partner effectively with staff, vendors, and external stakeholders. Responsibilities:

• Direct the daily workflow of the accounting function, including payables, receivables, billing activity, and maintenance of the general ledger.
• Oversee month-end close processes by reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Coordinate annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, and present clear financial insights to leadership, board members, and funding partners.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and other recurring reports, while monitoring accounting data for trends, risks, and operational impact.
• Manage audit preparation, tax readiness, annual filings, and contract-related financial reporting to support regulatory and funding compliance.
• Track grants, contracts, proposals, donations, investments, and endowment activity to support funding visibility and responsible financial stewardship.
• Partner with project teams, staff, and external service providers to gather required documentation, process invoices, and align spending with approved budgets and funding restrictions.
• Maintain effective internal controls, recommend procedural improvements, and update accounting practices to improve accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
• Monitor cash position, banking activity, investments, and debt-related reporting to help maintain organizational liquidity and financial stability.
• Advise leadership on short- and long-term financial priorities and contribute to broader organizational planning as part of the management team. Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
• Strong background in month-end close, general ledger oversight, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience supporting audits, tax preparation, and compliance reporting across multiple funding or contract sources.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and strong overall financial systems skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and communicate effectively with staff, vendors, leadership, and external partners.
• Construction project accounting experience is highly preferred.
• Certifications such as CPA or other advanced accounting credentials are preferred.
