Full Job Description Finance & Operations Manager Holy Redeemer Parish Status:
Full-Time, Exempt Reports To:
Pastor Supervises:
Parish Administrative & Financial Assistant, Coordinator of Communications, Maintenance/Custodial Staff, and other administrative personnel as assigned.
Leadership Participation:
Serves as a member of the Parish Staff and collaborates with the Parish Council, Finance Commission, School Commission and diocesan administrative groups as appropriate. Position Summary The Finance & Operations Manager serves as the senior administrative and financial leader of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, providing strategic oversight of the parish's financial, operational, human resources, facilities, and administrative functions. Working closely with the Pastor, Pastoral Associate and School Principal, this position ensures responsible stewardship of the parish's people, facilities, and financial resources while supporting the mission of the Church and advancing parish and school ministries. The Manager fosters operational excellence, financial sustainability, and organizational effectiveness through servant leadership, sound business practices, and faithful stewardship. Essential ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership & Stewardship
  • Direct all financial operations of the parish and school in accordance with diocesan policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Lead the annual operating and capital budgeting process in collaboration with the Pastor, Pastoral Associate, School Principal, Finance Commission, and ministry leaders.
  • Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, identifying trends and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Monitor cash flow, banking relationships, investments, endowments, memorial funds, and restricted accounts.
  • Oversee parish and school accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tuition collections, and financial recordkeeping.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, financial accountability, and compliance with diocesan and civil regulations.
  • Coordinate annual financial reviews, audits, and required diocesan reporting.
  • Serve as liaison with the Diocese on all financial matters.
  • Preparing and filing federal and state regulatory forms (1099's, W-2G's, gaming license) Stewardship & Development
  • Promote a culture of Christian stewardship through the faithful management of Time, Talent, and Treasure.
  • Oversee stewardship campaigns, annual giving initiatives, and the Catholic Ministries Appeal (CMA).
  • Provide financial oversight for fundraising activities and volunteer-led initiatives.
  • Prepare annual financial reports and communicate parish financial information through parish publications and stewardship communications. Operations & Administration
  • Provide strategic leadership for parish operations, administrative systems, and organizational processes.
  • Serve as purchasing agent for the parish and school, overseeing purchasing policies and vendor relationships.
  • Maintain parish records and oversee document retention practices.
  • Manage contracts, leases, rental agreements, and use of parish facilities.
  • Develop and improve administrative policies and procedures that support ministry effectiveness.
  • Acts as the parish Safe Environment Coordinator and oversees Safe Environment reporting to the diocese. Human Resources
  • Lead parish human resources functions, including recruitment, hiring (excluding school faculty), onboarding, compensation administration, benefits, and personnel records.
  • Administer employee performance evaluations.
  • Maintain personnel policies in collaboration with the Pastor and ensure compliance with diocesan and employment regulations.
  • Foster a healthy workplace culture through effective communication, coaching, and servant leadership. Facilities & Campus Operations
  • Oversee maintenance, repair, renovation, and capital improvement projects for all parish and school facilities.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance programs and long-term facility planning.
  • Work with the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Building & Grounds commission to solicit bids, negotiate contracts, and oversee vendors and contractors.
  • Manage campus security, key control, and facility access.
  • Coordinate property, liability, and workers' compensation insurance with the diocesan insurance program. School Support
  • Partner with the School Principal to support the financial and operational needs of the parish school.
  • Oversee tuition billing, collections, financial aid administration, and other school financial processes.
  • Assist with long-range planning to ensure the financial sustainability of the school. Leadership & Strategic Planning
  • Collaborate with the Pastor to implement the parish's strategic vision and operational priorities.
  • Support the work of the Parish Council, Finance Commission, School Commission, and other leadership groups through financial analysis and operational guidance.
  • Develop long-range financial plans and operational strategies that advance the mission of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
  • Build collaborative relationships with parish staff, volunteers, diocesan leaders, and community partners. QualificationsRequired
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church who supports and models the teachings and mission of the Catholic faith.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in finance, business administration, operations, or nonprofit management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and organizational management.
  • Experience supervising employees and managing multiple operational functions.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgment.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and business technology systems. Preferred
  • Experience in Catholic parish, diocesan, nonprofit, or educational administration.
  • Experience with capital projects, facilities management, and strategic planning. Personal Characteristics

Professional Development The Finance & Operations Manager is expected to pursue continuing professional and ministerial education through diocesan programs, professional associations, conferences, and relevant training opportunities to remain current in church administration, financial management, leadership, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Applicants shall exhibit in behavior and lifestyle values in accord with Catholic teachings in particular as well as being a practicing Catholic. All employees shall abide by the laws of the Church and the state. All employees must comply with the provisions of the Safe Environment Program of the Diocese of Evansville.

$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
