Job Description

At the Louisiana Department of Revenue, we are dedicated to fairly and efficiently administering the state's tax laws to ensure compliance while providing exceptional customer service. We're looking for a Revenue Tax Officer to join our Customer Service Division! This position is responsible for handling billing inquires and enforcement of collection for business and individual income taxes. An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies:

Making Accurate Judgments:

The ability to assess options, weigh risks, and make sound decisions using available information and logical reasoning.

Thinking Critically:

The ability to analyze information objectively, identify connections across sources, and form logical, well-supported conclusions.

Thinking Strategically:

The ability to anticipate trends, understand context, and align actions with long-term priorities. Three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties:

In this role, y ou will: Assist taxpayers, accountants, CPAs and attorneys to gather and analyze information, answer questions, resolve problems, and provide technical advice regarding notices for individual income and business taxes. Conduct detailed analysis of accounts for which returns have been processed. Receive and respond to email inquiries pertaining to tax due notices issued by the Department for individual income and business taxes. Provide assistance with LDR's website and submissions of electronic payments.

This position may be filled as a Revenue Tax Officer 1 or 2.

Compensation:

The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level: The Revenue Tax Officer 1 (AS-612) has a starting rate of: $17.79/hourly; $1423.20 biweekly. The Revenue Tax Officer 2 (AS-613) has a starting rate of: $19.04/hourly; $1523.20 biweekly. This posting may be used to fill vacancies in other divisions available within the Louisiana Department of Revenue within 90 days of the closing date. A Tax and Natural Disaster Clearance will be conducted on all selected applicants to validate the timely submission of tax returns and payments. It is a requirement that all Revenue employees must adhere to all tax laws of the State of Louisiana.
