Job Description
Overview Air Quality Engineering Inc. is a stable, 100% employee-owned growing manufacturing company with approximately 40 employees. We are seeking a hands-on, business-minded Controller / Finance & Administration Manager to lead our accounting and financial operations while also supporting key administrative functions including human resources, information technology coordination, and office administration. This position is a key member of our leadership team and offers the opportunity to directly influence company performance, strategy, and growth. Position Summary The Controller / Finance & Administration Manager is responsible for the company's accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, internal controls, and financial analysis. In addition, this position oversees administrative functions including HR administration, benefits coordination, outsourced IT vendor relationships, and office operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a small-company environment where they can make a meaningful impact across multiple areas of the business. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Finance Manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets. Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities. Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements. Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures. Coordinate year-end activities and work with external CPA firms. Analyze business performance and provide recommendations to management. Prepare financial reports and KPIs for leadership team review. Manage sales tax reporting and regulatory compliance. Human Resources Administration Administer employee benefits programs including ESOP. Support recruiting, onboarding, and employee record management. Assist with performance management and HR policy administration. Coordinate with outside HR consultants as needed. Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies. Information Technology & Administration Coordinate activities with outsourced IT providers. Assist in planning and implementing technology improvements. Manage business insurance renewals and administrative vendor relationships. Oversee office administration and support functions. Participate in process improvement initiatives across the organization. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in accounting. 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience. Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. Experience using ERP and accounting software systems. Advanced Excel proficiency. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Manufacturing industry experience Experience with cost accounting and inventory accounting. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Prior supervisory experience. Preferred CPA, CMA, or other professional certification. Experience with HR administration and employee benefits. Familiarity with outsourced IT environments. Pay:
