Position Overview The Club Controller will oversee the Club's day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions while providing meaningful financial analysis, including cash forecasting, capital project oversight, and other roles to support sound business decisions across a diverse, multi-department operation. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with an operational mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information effectively to both financial and non-financial leaders. The Club Controller, as part of the Evergreen Partners portfolio of owned clubs, will have the opportunity to contribute and grow into future Regional or Corporate roles. Core Responsibilities Prepare timely and accurate monthly and year-end financial statements, management reports, and forecasts in partnership with the Club General Manager. Manage the monthly and year-end closing processes, including preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and supporting documentation. Analyze financial performance and prepare detailed budget-to-actual and prior-year variance reports, identifying trends and recommending appropriate action plans. Maintain a healthy balance sheet with monthly balance sheet reconciliations, revenue and expense analyses, general ledger accounts, and other financial activity. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate payments, collections, reconciliations, and reporting. Oversee member accounting processes, including member billing, dues, initiation fees, receivables, collections, and related account activity. Monitor cash flow and liquidity and provide appropriate reporting to the Clubs General Manager. Supervise monthly and annual bank reconciliations, credit card transaction reviews, inventory accounting, and related financial controls. Manage vendor invoicing, contracts, and financial tracking for both operating and capital expenditures. Assist with the preparation, coordination, and ongoing monitoring of the Club's annual operating and capital budgets. Partner with all department leaders to analyze financial performance, identify trends and opportunities, and support sound operating decisions. Review payroll reporting and reconciliations and coordinate with Corporate Human Resources and payroll resources to support accurate and timely payroll processing. Continuously evaluate accounting processes and systems and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, reporting, and internal controls. Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Five or more years of accounting or financial management experience preferred. Experience within a private club, golf, resort, or hospitality is strongly preferred. Strong Microsoft Excel skills and demonstrated proficiency with accounting, financial reporting, point-of-sale, and related business systems. Experience analyzing financial results and communicating key findings to operational and executive leadership. Strong organizational skills with demonstrated attention to accuracy, deadlines, confidentiality, and detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, service-oriented environment. Supervisory or accounting-team leadership experience preferred. CPA or CMA designation is a plus but not required. Paid Vacation Leave As a full-time employee, you will accrue Paid Vacation Leave at a rate of 3.33 hours per pay period, equal to 80 hours annually. The accrual will increase as outlined below based on years of service and will occur at each pay period starting from your hire date. This time may be used for vacation, personal matters, or other approved absences, and we request a minimum of two weeks' notice so we can plan accordingly. Years of Service Annual Accrual 0 - 36 months 3.33 hours per pay period 80 hours (10 days) 37 - 60 months 5.00hour per pay period 120 hours (15 days) 61+ months 6.67 160 hours per pay period (20 days) To ensure adequate coverage and support of business operations, vacation requests are subject to prior approval by your supervisor. Because the Minnesota golf season is compact, the core playing season (generally course opening in April through the end of September) and signature events such as the Member-Guest and Club Championship will typically be designated blackout periods, during which Paid Vacation Leave is generally not permitted except in exceptional circumstances. We encourage you to plan extended time away during the off-season months. Additional details, including the current list of blackout periods, maximum consecutive days allowed, and any carryover provisions, are outlined in the Company's Paid Vacation Policy within the Employee Handbook. Earned Sick and Safe Time In accordance with Minnesota's Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) law, employees who are anticipated to work at least 80 hours a year in Minnesota are eligible and begin accruing ESST from their first day of employment. Employees accrue one hour of ESST for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year, and unused hours carry over as permitted by law. ESST may be used for the purposes permitted under Minnesota law. Additional details, including carryover limits, are outlined in the Company's Earned Sick and Safe Time Policy within the Employee Handbook. Minnesota Paid Leave As a Minnesota employee, you are covered by the State of Minnesota's Paid Leave program, which provides partial wage replacement for qualifying family and medical leave. Any employee's share of program premiums will be withheld through payroll as permitted by law. Aspen HR will provide the required program notice and additional information during onboarding.
