Job Description
Manage the accounting staff who are responsible for month-end closing and reporting and ensure adherence to statutory guidelines for performing the General Accounting function. Lead the team in the day-to-day performance of the process of recording transactions to accurately report business performance. Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) Common job activities are listed below; actual position responsibilities may vary. Refer to your manager or human resources for specific duties and performance expectations. Manage operations of the general accounting function. Distribute work to staff, monitor results and resolve discrepancies. Ensure month-end close timelines are met. (25-30%) Input monthly journal entries, review accounts payable, commission and general ledger entries, and perform general ledger and bank reconciliations. Generate monthly financial and variance reports. (20-25%) Perform administrative activities necessary for management of the department: employee safety, salary administration, and selection, development, counseling, motivation, and performance evaluation of staff. (15-20%) Plan, organize, measure, and report the work performed within the department. Analyze and interpret results. (15-20%) Understand the latest technical requirements and their implications for Operating and Financial Review (OFR), reporting and statutory requirements. Assess accounting policies and procedures to confirm compliance with regulatory/industry standards. (5-10%) Apply organizational policies and ensure adherence to departmental procedures. Assist with the establishment of department goals and objectives. (5-10%) Identify opportunities for process and system improvement and automation. (5-10%) Provide assistance and act as liaison with other departments, units, and organizations of the company with questions and/or discrepancies. Notify employees of changes in policies, procedures, and/or rules. (5-10%) Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. Perform responsibilities as directed achieving desired results within expected time frames and with a high degree of quality and professionalism. Establish and maintain positive and productive work relationships with all staff, customers, and business partners.
