Job Description

The Financial Services Specialist supports accurate and organized financial services for people supported by ABLE and assists with billing for Sprout & Shine Learning Center. This position reconciles individual checking accounts, maintains financial records, assists with Medicaid and other benefit programs, monitors childcare billing and payments and helps resolve payment issues. Success in this position requires strong numerical skills, attention to detail, organization, confidentiality, and consistent follow-through.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INDIVIDUAL FINANCIAL ACCOUNTS
Reconcile checking accounts monthly for people we support, by review check registers and bank statements and follow up on missing receipts or documentation. Organize and scan receipts, bills, financial records, check documentation, and bank statements. Maintain financial information in Therap and other required systems. Update income, asset, and quarterly financial reports. Maintain accurate documentation of financial activity for people supported.
BENEFITS & FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Assist people supported with maintaining Medicaid and other public benefits. Complete or assist with Medicaid, SNAP, housing, LIHEAP, renter refund, and other applications or recertifications. Complete benefit redeterminations and gather required supporting documentation. Participate in phone interviews with Social Services and other benefit agencies. Monitor SNAP amounts and EBT balances as needed. Obtain financial or health information needed for applications and recertifications. Complete Representative Payee reports and other required financial reporting. Contact guardians, representatives, or others to obtain required financial information. Assist with opening and maintaining ABLE-related accounts for people supported.
CHILDCARE CENTER FINANCIALS
Manage weekly, biweekly & monthly billing for Sprout & Shine Learning Center using the designated software program - currently Playground . Monitor family accounts and payments to ensure balances remain current, maintain billing records and supporting documentation. Follow up on missed payments, returned payments, NSFs, or other billing concerns. Communicate with families and appropriate staff regarding billing questions or payment issues. Assist with reconciliation and correction of billing discrepancies.
FINANCIAL RECORDS & ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
Collect, organize, scan, and file receipts, bills, bank records, benefit information, and other financial documents. Maintain credit card records and supporting receipts for people supported. Respond to financial and benefit questions from Support Coordinators and managers. Archive and securely destroy financial records in accordance with record-retention requirements. Maintain organized financial systems so records can be easily located
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree not required. Experience with bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, billing, accounting support, or similar financial responsibilities preferred. Strong numerical skills and ability to accurately reconcile accounts and identify discrepancies. Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through. Strong computer skills and ability to learn financial, billing, and documentation systems. Ability to communicate professionally with employees, families, guardians, financial institutions, and benefit agencies. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial and personal information appropriately.
