Job Objective Overseeing the end-to-end financial operations of the North America regions. The role holder will act as the primary finance representative for the region, ensuring compliance with statutory, taxation, retail accounting, and regulatory requirements while coordinating with local accounting firms, tax consultants, auditors, and government authorities.
What you will do:
Finance Management- Manage and oversee the financial operations of the North America entities.
- Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and treasury activities.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Analyze financial performance and provide insights to management for decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to group financial policies and reporting standards.
- Coordinate with local agencies and finance partners to maintain smooth business operations.
- Partner with retail operations teams to optimize store-level costs, improve operational efficiency, and support business expansion initiatives.
Taxation Management:
- Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance for the region.
- Coordinate preparation, review, and filing of federal, state/provincial, and local tax returns.
- Liaise with external tax consultants and authorities on assessments, audits, and notices.
- Monitor changes in tax regulations and evaluate business impact.
- Ensure timely tax payments, reconciliations, and documentation.
- Drive tax efficiency initiatives while maintaining full compliance with applicable laws.
- Ensure compliance with sales tax, use tax, GST/HST, and other specific indirect tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions in the North America Region.
- Support tax planning and compliance related to e-commerce, omnichannel sales, marketplace transactions, and cross-border retail operations.
Accounts and Financial Reporting:
- Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, and Bank Reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Review accounting entries and reconciliations prepared by local agencies and outsourced partners.
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with IFRS/US GAAP and company policies.
- Ensure timely submission of financial reports to corporate stakeholders.
- Support statutory audits, internal audits, and financial reviews. Compliance & Regulatory Affairs
- Ensure compliance with all corporate, statutory, and regulatory requirements across the US and Canada.
- Coordinate with local authorities, auditors, legal advisors, and regulatory bodies.
- Manage corporate filings, licenses, registrations, and annual compliance requirements.
- Monitor adherence to local labor, finance, tax, and reporting regulations.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls and governance practices.
- Lead compliance reviews and implement corrective actions where required.
- Ensure compliance with retail industry regulations, consumer protection requirements, payment card (PCI) standards, and inventory control policies.
- Monitor compliance related to store operations, lease obligations, inventory management, and vendor agreements.
- Maintain insurance protection and claims oversight for company-owned jewellery, vehicles, and other insured assets. Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary finance contact for North America operations.
- Build strong relationships with local accounting firms, tax advisors, auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities.
- Collaborate with operational, commercial, legal, HR, and corporate finance & account teams.
- Provide guidance and support to local agencies managing routine finance activities.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations on pricing strategies, promotions, seasonal inventory planning, and new store/business opportunities.
