Join Our Team We are seeking a Controller to join our team and support the continued success of our mission-driven organization. Job Summary The Controller oversees the agency's financial operations, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. This role leads the development and maintenance of metric-driven financial models used to forecast performance, evaluate agency and program profitability, and support strategic decision-making. As the agency's most senior accounting professional, the Controller provides executive leadership with timely financial insights, analysis, and recommendations necessary to support effective management of agency resources and overall financial health. Responsibilities Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Lead the development and execution of annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with agency goals, operational priorities, and strategic objectives. Provide leadership to Finance Department staff in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of financial data to support accurate budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting through strong review processes, variance analysis, and financial controls. Provide the CEO and senior leadership with financial insights, performance analysis, and recommendations by interpreting financial results, identifying trends and risks, and supporting informed resource allocation and operational decisions. Oversee cash flow management, managing banking relationships, and optimizing cash flow through effective accounts receivable and accounts payable management. Direct all payroll functions, including, but not limited to submission of personal assistant hours, issuance of paychecks, and payroll-related journal entries; serves as a backup to payroll processing when needed. Oversee and monitor the accuracy and timeliness of the claims management process including but not limited to, billing submissions and resolution of denied and partially paid claims. Coordinate the annual audit process by ensuring financial records and supporting documentation are accurate, complete, and available to external auditors. Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting. 10+ years of progressive accounting experience. 5 years of supervisory experience. Ability to adapt to changing industry standards, including interpreting, and applying state and federal guidelines to daily operations. Solid working knowledge of GAAP and strong financial analysis skills. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. They will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines with minimal supervision. Experience with payroll and accounting systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to present financial information to executive leadership while supporting strategic decision-making are essential.
