Location:

Part-Time Hours:
20-30 hours per week
Schedule:
Flexible, Monday-Friday About Ex-Eltronics Ex-Eltronics is an established aerospace and defense component procurement and distribution company serving military, aerospace, defense contractors, and industrial customers throughout the U.S. and internationally. Our U.S. headquarters is in Plainview, NY, and we also operate a UK subsidiary in Alton, Hampshire. We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team on a part-time basis. This is an important role within our organization and is well suited to an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working independently and wants meaningful responsibility without the demands of a traditional full-time position. Position Overview The Accounting Manager will oversee the company's U.S. accounting activities, including payroll, and provide financial oversight and coordination for our UK operation. This is a hands-on management-level accounting position , not a bookkeeping role. The successful candidate will have strong corporate accounting experience and be comfortable working with S-Corporations, LLCs, and multiple related entities . You will work directly with company management, our outside CPA, payroll provider, and accounting personnel in both the U.S. and UK. Key Responsibilities U.S. Accounting Oversee day-to-day accounting activities for the U.S. business. Manage general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliations. Manage and support the monthly financial close. Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports. Review P&L and balance sheet activity and identify significant variances. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management. Support management with working-capital and financial analysis. Payroll Processing Manage the company's U.S. payroll process in coordination with the payroll provider. Collect, review, and verify payroll information prior to processing. Ensure accurate processing of regular payroll, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and other employee payments. Review payroll reports and payroll-related accounting entries. Reconcile payroll, payroll taxes, benefits, and other payroll-related liabilities. Coordinate payroll tax filings and payments with the payroll provider and outside CPA as appropriate. Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records. Assist with employee questions regarding payroll and pay-related accounting matters. Ensure payroll-related information is properly reflected in the company's financial records. UK Accounting Oversight Provide accounting and financial oversight of the company's UK subsidiary. Review monthly UK financial statements and financial reports. Coordinate with UK accounting personnel and outside accounting advisors. Review UK bank reconciliations and key balance sheet accounts. Monitor UK cash requirements. Review GBP, EUR, and USD activity. Oversee and reconcile intercompany transactions between the U.S. and UK entities. Help establish consistent accounting and reporting practices between the U.S. and UK operations. Provide U.S. management with visibility into the financial performance of the UK business. Tax & CPA Coordination Work with the company's outside CPA and tax advisors. Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for tax filings. Assist with year-end close and tax preparation. Coordinate financial information between the U.S. and UK operations and external advisors. Assist with payroll-related tax and reporting requirements. Cash Management & Controls Monitor U.S. and UK cash positions. Assist with weekly and monthly cash-flow forecasting. Review and maintain appropriate accounting controls. Identify accounting issues, discrepancies, or unusual transactions and bring them to management's attention. Recommend improvements to accounting procedures and processes. Qualifications Required 5+ years of corporate accounting experience. Demonstrated experience with S-Corporations and LLCs . Experience with multiple entities and intercompany accounting . Strong general ledger and financial statement experience. Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations. Experience processing and managing payroll. Experience working directly with outside CPAs or accounting firms. Strong Excel skills. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities. Strong communication skills and attention to detail. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding financial and employee information. Preferred Experience overseeing the accounting of a foreign subsidiary . Experience with UK accounting or UK operations . Experience with multiple currencies. Experience in a privately held or small-to-medium-sized company. Distribution, manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or B2B experience. Experience with ERP/accounting systems. Experience with cash-flow forecasting and working-capital management. Previous experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who can own the accounting function , rather than simply process transactions. The ideal candidate will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves when necessary while also being able to step back and provide management with meaningful financial information and insight. You should be comfortable working in an environment where you will have direct interaction with company leadership and where your judgment and experience will be valued. Experience with a UK subsidiary is a plus but not required . The ability to understand and oversee accounting performed by others is more important than being a UK accounting specialist. Hours & Compensation 20-30 hours per week Flexible schedule Primarily based at our Plainview, NY office Approximately $45-$65 per hour , depending on experience and qualifications This position is intended to be an ongoing part-time position rather than a temporary or seasonal assignment. Why Join Ex-Eltronics? Established company with a long history in the aerospace and defense industry. Meaningful interaction with senior management. Opportunity to have ownership of the accounting function. Flexible part-time schedule. U.S. and international exposure. Opportunity to contribute to process improvements and the continued growth of the company.
