Job Description
About Alyrica Networks Alyrica Networks is an Internet Service Provider in the Mid-Willamette valley that services its customers through both wireless and fiber solutions. At Alyrica we strive to be the best customer experience in telecommunication. We believe in building a great company for our employees to work at so they can focus on serving the customer. As Alyrica continues to grow, we are looking for great people to join our team. We are seeking a candidate who is willing to help people first and go the extra mile for our customers. We also are looking for someone who is willing to take ownership and has the courage to do the right thing. Role Specifics The Controller owns Alyrica's ledger and everything that runs on it: month-end close, financial reporting, the annual audit, accounts payable, payroll approval, the regulatory and tax filing calendar, and a team of two accountants and an administrative assistant. The role reports to the Head of Finance and is onsite in Philomath, Oregon. The first major project is the accounting integration of Roome Telecommunications, a wholly owned subsidiary, into a single multi-entity environment on Intuit Enterprise Suite (QBO's ERP). We expect that migration to be substantially complete within two to three quarters, including automation of the Part 32 allocations. Beyond a clean, on-time close, the defining expectation of this role is that the work gets easier over time. We want someone who takes a process apart, maps it, separates it into discrete and well understood pieces, and rebuilds it so it runs with less manual effort every quarter. That applies to close, to reporting, to compliance filings, and to work we currently pay outside vendors to perform. We have many automation and AI workflows currently, and AI is a central tool in how we do that going forward. This person will be expected to build durable, documented, auditable AI-assisted processes rather than one-off tricks. Systems thinking and a real understanding of how data moves matter more here than any particular technical credential. Pay Scale $90,000-$115,000/year Core Role Responsibilities Own the month-end and year-end close across all entities, including timeliness, accuracy, and the close calendar Produce the bulk of financial reporting, including consolidated multi-entity financial statements Own the annual external financial statement audit, including auditor relationship and deliverables Lead the accounting integration of Roome into Alyrica on Intuit Enterprise Suite, including chart of accounts alignment, entity structure, historical data conversion, and automation of Part 32 allocations Own accounts payable and the vendor payment cycle Review and approve payroll (the accounting team runs it) Own the regulatory and tax compliance calendar, and the vendor relationships supporting it; remain accountable for every deliverable and deadline regardless of who performs the work Evaluate outsourced compliance work on an ongoing basis and bring it in house where AI and automation makes that faster, cheaper, or more reliable Manage, develop, and set priorities for two accountants and an administrative assistant, including delegating work appropriately as capacity and skills grow Handle sensitive HR administrative matters requiring discretion and sound judgment Document and redesign finance and accounting processes; build and maintain the automations that support them; deploy AI in the daily workflow in ways that are repeatable, documented, and audit ready Own the close management platform (Numeric) and the accounting toolset, and drive continuous improvement of both Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field Ability to work onsite in Philomath, Oregon, five days per week Experience owning a full-cycle month-end close and preparing financial statements Demonstrated track record of identifying a manual process and rebuilding it as an automated or substantially simplified one, in any toolset Working proficiency with AI tools in daily workflow, and eagerness to make AI-driven process improvement a core part of the job Working familiarity with data concepts: how source systems, integrations, and reporting layers relate to each other Demonstrated ability to teach yourself new systems and tools without formal training Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, and 10+ years of overall professional experience 2+ years directly supervising staff Multi-entity accounting and consolidations experience Experience leading or materially supporting an ERP or accounting system migration Experience as the auditee on an annual external audit Telecommunications industry experience, particularly ILEC accounting and Part 32 Experience owning outside vendor and service provider relationships, including scope and deliverable accountability Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online or Intuit Enterprise Suite Experience with a close management platform such as Numeric, FloQast, or Blackline Familiarity with BI and reporting tools such as
