Job Description

Position Summary The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily financial operations, including payroll administration, accounts payable, and general accounting functions. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with federal and state regulations, and adherence to District policies and internal controls. The Accounting Manager works closely with the Director of Finance and Operations to maintain financial integrity while supporting efficient, accurate, and effective financial processes. Key Responsibilities Payroll Administration Serve as the primary payroll administrator Process semi-monthly payroll and verify employee time records Maintain payroll system records and employee data Administer payroll deductions (retirement, taxes, benefits, union dues, etc.) Process stipends, summer pay, and supplemental compensation Prepare and file payroll tax and retirement reports Generate W-2s and manage payroll-related employee requests Financial Accounting & Reporting Oversee accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely operations Maintain and monitor internal controls and compliance procedures Assist with financial reporting, audits, and year-end closing Prepare reports for local, state, and federal agencies Conduct financial analysis and recommend process improvements Support treasury functions and revenue collection procedures Assist with internal audits, including student activity funds Accounts Payable Oversee and process all accounts payable transactions Review and verify vendor invoices and purchase orders Manage payment runs (checks and electronic payments) Maintain vendor records and supporting documentation Prepare monthly bills list for Board approval Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies Assist with procurement and bid documentation
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field Experience in accounting, payroll, or financial management Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial systems
Preferred:
CPA certification Experience in a public school district or governmental accounting Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and reporting Skills & Attributes Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Position Requirements Valid Pennsylvania driver's license Ability to work in an office environment with occasional movement throughout school buildings Ability to sit for extended periods and perform routine computer tasks Clearances Required PA Criminal Record Check (Act 34) Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151) FBI Fingerprint Clearance Act 24, Act 168, and Act 126 compliance requirements All clearances must be maintained and renewed as required Terms of Employment Full-Time, 12-Month Position (260 Days) Salary and benefits in accordance with Act 93 Agreement Evaluation Performance will be evaluated annually by the Director of Finance and Operations.
