For additional information visit www.uhs.com . The Corporate Revenue Cycle Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Sr. Director, Revenue Cycle - Behavioral Health Central Business Offices. The Senior Director, Revenue Cycle - Behavioral Health Central Business Offices provides strategic and operational leadership for all revenue cycle functions, including registration, billing, and collections, for assigned facilities. This role has full accountability for end ‑ to ‑ end revenue cycle performance across supported entities and partners closely with corporate, divisional, and facility executive leadership to ensure alignment with enterprise objectives, financial targets, and operational standards. The Senior Director oversees all core revenue cycle operations, including Pre ‑ Services, Customer Service, Claims Processing, Accounts Receivable Management, Collections, Cash Posting, Denial Management, Vendor Oversight, and Bad Debt processing. The position is responsible for maximizing net revenue through effective cash collection strategies, reduction of bad debt exposure, proactive denial prevention, and optimized account management practices, while ensuring a consistent, patient ‑ centered experience aligned with UHS service excellence standards. This role is accountable for meeting or exceeding established revenue cycle Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through regular performance monitoring, analysis, and implementation of process improvements. The Senior Director ensures compliance with all UHS policies, regulatory requirements, and provider ‑ specific procedures through ongoing education, training, and operational oversight of both CBO and provider ‑ based staff. Serving as a key liaison, the Senior Director fosters effective communication and collaboration among facilities, regional leadership, corporate partners, and peer CBOs to promote operational consistency, best practices, and continuous improvement. If not located within a larger UHS facility, the Senior Director is ultimately responsible for management of their facilities, compliance, and human resources, with support from appropriate Corporate teams.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide strategic and operational leadership for regional revenue cycle operations , ensuring consistent execution, financial performance, and alignment with enterprise objectives across all supported entities. Oversee end‑to‑end revenue cycle functions , including patient access, billing, accounts receivable management, collections, cash posting, denial management, vendor oversight, and bad debt processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Optimize net revenue and financial performance by driving cash acceleration, denial prevention, bad debt reduction, and improved account management through data‑driven initiatives and operational discipline. Establish, monitor, and achieve revenue cycle Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through performance analysis, identification of gaps and trends, and implementation of corrective actions and process improvements. Lead, develop, and manage a large, geographically diverse team and regional CBO office operations, including talent acquisition, performance management, staff development, succession planning, and fostering a culture of accountability and engagement. Ensure regulatory, payer, and organizational compliance while serving as an executive liaison and strategic partner, maintaining adherence to applicable regulations and policies and fostering collaboration with corporate, regional, and facility leadership.
Qualifications Position Requirements:
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, or a related field, with a master's degree strongly preferred, along with eight to ten years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate broad knowledge of healthcare systems and reimbursement, including Medicare, Medicaid, other governmental programs, and commercial payers such as HMO, PPO, and ACO models. Experience spanning the full revenue cycle—from patient access and registration through billing, collections, and accounts receivable management—is essential. The role calls for a proven ability to lead teams, drive process improvement, and apply sound judgment and critical thinking to achieve sustainable operational and financial results. Strong executive‑level communication skills are required, as is comfort working with data, technology, and automation to support performance improvement. Experience in management consulting or advisory roles is preferred, as is demonstrated capability in budgeting, expense management, and leading complex organizations through change. A qualified candidate should have strong professional written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.), and the ability to meet deadlines and multitask.
Travel Requirements:
Up to 25% domestic travel dependent on business need.
