Accounting Manager (Part-Time, Contract) Serve Freight Fully Remote or Hybrid in Asheville, NC or Cleveland, OH 20 to 25 hours per week Serve Freight is a US-based freight broker focused on complex, time-sensitive, coordination-heavy freight. ServeProjects is our project logistics division, moving heavy haul, breakbulk and multi-stop industrial freight for customers who need one accountable owner from cargo confirmation to final POD. Revenue has grown materially this year. The accounting team needs to catch up with the volume, and this is the senior hire that does it. You'll work directly with our AR specialist and the owner, and you'll have real say in how the function gets built. What you'll own Month-end close. Calendar, journal entries, reconciliations, financials out by the 10th. Factoring accounting. Advances, reserves, holdbacks, fees and chargebacks, reconciling the factor portal to the general ledger every week. AR and AP oversight, working alongside our AR specialist on the harder items rather than above her. Bank reconciliations and cleaning up the chart of accounts. Leadership of accounting staff. Mentoring and leading are a critical part of this role. Sharing what you know and helping people grow in their careers. Monthly financials that a third party could review and rely on. What you need 5+ years in accounting, including time leading or mentoring staff. Freight brokerage, 3PL or transportation accounting. This is the requirement we won't flex on. Carrier costs, accessorials and margin per load need to be familiar territory. Hands-on experience with invoice factoring. You should be able to explain how advances, reserves and fees hit the balance sheet and why. QuickBooks experience Comfortable being the most senior accounting person in the room on a given day, and comfortable doing the entry yourself. Nice to have CPA Experience with a TMS Details 20 to 25 hours a week, contract, 1099. $55 to $75 an hour depending on experience. Remote works, with preference to hybrid in Asheville or Cleveland. Start within one to two weeks. There is the potential for this to transition into a full-time role for the right candidate.Benefits
