About the Opportunity A leading construction company headquartered in the Indianapolis area is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its growing team. This individual will play a key role in overseeing financial operations, supporting project teams, driving process improvements, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's accounting functions. Working closely with executive leadership, operations, project management, and field teams, the Accounting Manager will help support continued growth by maintaining strong financial controls, delivering meaningful reporting, and enhancing accounting processes across the organization. Key Responsibilities Partner with Project Managers, Operations, and Executive Leadership to support project accounting activities, including job costing, work-in-progress reporting, revenue recognition, and financial analysis. Oversee accounting records and financial reporting for multiple entities and business units. Ensure construction activities are accurately captured, recorded, and reported in accordance with company policies and accounting standards. Manage contract billings, progress draws, invoicing, and collections activities. Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger account analysis. Administer fixed asset accounting, including depreciation schedules and monthly entries. Monitor budgets, financial performance, and cash flow to ensure alignment with business objectives. Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiencies. Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Support external audits, lender reporting requirements, and financial compliance initiatives. Collaborate across departments to strengthen financial visibility and support strategic decision-making. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry. Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, work-in-progress reporting, and revenue recognition. CPA designation strongly preferred. Public accounting experience is highly desirable. Experience with multi-entity accounting environments. Familiarity with payroll processing, benefits administration, and union payroll is a plus. Experience working with construction ERP platforms such as Foundation, Procore, Viewpoint, Sage, or similar systems. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with a strong analytical mindset. Proven ability to improve processes, implement efficiencies, and leverage technology to enhance accounting operations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization. High degree of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential financial information. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
