Job Description

Overview We are a member-owned electric cooperative serving communities across South Carolina with reliable, affordable energy. In addition to our core utility operations, our organization oversees a for-profit subsidiary with businesses in commercial real estate and economic development, generator and fuel sales, and land investments. We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to help lead accounting operations across this multi-entity organization. Duties Oversee the general ledger integrity, chart of accounts maintenance, and entity-level accounting structures across the organization. Assist in directing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for the cooperative and all subsidiary legal entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across the portfolio. Prepare and review consolidated and standalone financial statements in accordance with
GAAP, RUS
(Rural Utilities Service) requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines. Maintain and reconcile intercompany transactions, allocations, and eliminations across all subsidiary entities. Support coordinating annual audits, including RUS audits, subsidiary-level audits, and any tax-related filings for the for-profit entities. Support tax compliance efforts for the for-profit subsidiaries, including coordination with external tax preparers on federal and state filings. Partner with subsidiary management teams to ensure consistent accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting standards are applied across all legal entities. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for the cooperative and subsidiary group. Help maintain and strengthen internal controls across a decentralized, multi-entity environment. Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff; assist with staff scheduling, training, and performance management. Assist with cash management, banking relationships, and treasury functions across multiple entities. Support system implementations, process improvements, and automation initiatives to improve efficiency across the accounting function. Qualifications CPA license. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience. Experience with multi-entity or consolidated accounting environments. Strong knowledge of GAAP; ability to work across both nonprofit/cooperative and for-profit accounting principles. Proficiency with accounting software/ERP systems and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. $77,000.00 - $97,000.00 per year
