Since its founding in 1979, Careington has been delivering dental discount solutions as its core competency. Today, Careington has expanded to offer a growing portfolio of 150+ health, wellness, lifestyle and virtual health products and services designed to deliver cost savings across a spectrum of life needs. Through its affiliated nationally licensed third-party administrator (TPA), Careington also delivers full-scale administrative services, including customer service, licensed enrollment, claims administration, individual and group billing. This role will initially be worked in the office 3 days a week and 2 days from home. At some point and time in 2027 (Spring to Summer) will revert to five days in the office.
JOB SUMMARY
The Accounting and Finance Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting and finance department. The incumbent will ensure accurate financial reporting to help support Careington's financial strategy. They will manage accounting processes, supervise staff, and ensure with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.EXPECTED WORK AND PERFORMANCE
Oversee daily accounting operations and activities. Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Review account reconciliations and journal entries to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards. Supervise and mentor team members by providing guidance, performance feedback, and development opportunities. Establish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure financial integrity. Monitor results and investigate variances, trends, and anomalies. Support internal and external audits by coordinating audit requests and ensuring accurate documentation. Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes. Identify process improvement opportunities. Support system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements.QUALIFICATIONS
Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance. 2+ years supervising or leading a team. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Preferred Experience in a highly regulated industry such as insurance or financial services. Experience leading audits or regulatory reviews. CPA, CMA, or similar professional certificate. SKILLS Strong leadership and team management skills. Apply advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to financial issues. Communicate financial information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail. Effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Collaborate effectively cross-functionally. Demonstrate sound judgement and decision-making abilities. Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in financial matters.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to walk short distances. Required to stand, walk, and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds.
