Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Accounting Manager to lead our construction finance operations. This pivotal role involves overseeing all accounting functions related to construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing strategic financial insights. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting principles, project cost management, and team leadership within the construction or related industries. Duties Manage and oversee the full spectrum of construction accounting activities, including cost tracking, project budgeting, and financial reporting. Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements specific to construction and governmental projects. Lead the preparation of detailed financial reports, including project cost analyses, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance reports for executive review. Supervise the accounts payable process, ensuring timely payments while maintaining strong vendor relationships. Conduct thorough account reconciliation and analysis of the general ledger related to construction projects, including job cost accounting and project-specific accounts. Oversee cash management activities such as treasury management, forecasting, and cash flow analysis to support project funding needs. Manage and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement in financial processes. Implement and maintain robust accounting systems and software tailored for construction finance needs; utilize Excel data analysis for complex financial modeling. Ensure adherence to regulatory reporting standards for governmental or non-profit entities involved in construction projects. Support internal controls development, audit preparation, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards across all financial operations. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred. Extensive experience in construction accounting or a similar industry with knowledge of project-based financial management. Strong understanding of
GAAP, IFRS, SOX
compliance, and governmental or non-profit accounting standards. Proven expertise in managing accounting systems and financial software specific to construction or large-scale projects. Demonstrated ability in financial report writing, balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, and forecasting. Experience managing teams within a finance or accounting department; excellent leadership skills required. Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel), including data analysis techniques relevant to financial modeling and reporting. Knowledge of technical accounting concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation, and cost accounting analysis. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Excellent communication skills for clear presentation of financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
