This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a mix of leadership and hands-on accounting while maintaining significant flexibility. The role requires only a couple of days onsite per month , with the remainder of the work performed remotely. You'll work closely with the CFO and support an experienced accounting team that is already highly autonomous. The organization is looking for someone who can step in, take ownership of core accounting functions, and serve as a trusted resource during an exciting period of transition and growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and support the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Provide hands-on general ledger accounting support and ensure financial activity is recorded accurately and timely. Assist with contractual invoicing, accounts receivable, and other transactional accounting needs as necessary. Provide accounting oversight and support to an experienced AP and AR team. Partner directly with the CFO on accounting priorities, financial reporting, and special projects. Review financial activity, research discrepancies, and resolve accounting issues. Support process improvements and help strengthen accounting procedures and documentation. Assist with additional accounting and finance initiatives as organizational needs evolve.
REQUIREMENTS
Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller, or similar senior-level accounting experience. Nonprofit and/or government accounting experience required. Strong knowledge of month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting. Must be comfortable remaining hands-on with day-to-day accounting rather than solely reviewing the work of others. Experience with contractual, grant, or government-related invoicing is highly preferred. Ability to work independently and quickly become a trusted resource to leadership. Acumatica experience is a plus but not required.
