Job Description

Western Wisconsin Health is seeking a full-time Patient Financial Services Manager. The Manager is responsible for providing leadership for the organization's centralized business office which includes data entry, billing, charge master, prior authorization, and collection functions. All of this is done to support the organization's mission while living our values.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides strategic leadership, oversight, and operational management for all Patient Financial Services functions, including billing, claims management, denial prevention and resolution, payment posting, accounts receivable management, customer service, credit and collections activities, financial assistance programs, prior authorization, and payer enrollment; Optimizes reimbursement accuracy, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and patient financial experience through proactive leadership, data-driven decision-making, and continuous process improvement initiatives; Establishes, monitors, analyzes, and reports key revenue cycle performance indicators, including accounts receivable aging, clean claim rate, denial rates, reimbursement trends, cash collections, contractual adjustments, write-offs, and staff productivity metrics; Collaborates with executive leadership, clinical departments, operational leaders, finance, compliance, information technology, and external business partners to ensure revenue integrity and alignment of revenue cycle objectives with organizational strategic priorities; Coordinates, prepares, and supports internal, external, payer, and financial audits by maintaining required documentation, work papers, supporting analyses and ensuring timely responses to audit inquiries and findings; Ensures organizational compliance with applicable healthcare financial regulations, including but not limited to the No Surprises Act, Good Faith Estimate requirements, Hospital Price Transparency regulations, 501(r) requirements, and payer regulations; Develops and manages departmental operating budget, identifies opportunities for resource optimization, and participates in organizational financial planning and forecasting activities; Coordinates and manages strategies to ensure patient satisfaction around revenue cycle process and account standings; Recruits, develops, coaches, and retains high-performing team members through effective leadership, succession planning, training, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives; Implements a department strategic plan that is consistent with and supports the organization's overall strategic initiatives; Develops, implements, and executes departmental goals, strategic plans, policies, procedures, and performance standards that support the organization's mission, vision, values, and long-term strategic objectives; Participates in organizational committees, task forces, workgroups, compliance initiatives, and leadership activities as assigned, serving as the organizational leader for Patient Financial Services; Demonstrates awareness, understanding and respect of cultural diversity and patients of all ages and socioeconomic groups; and Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree 3+ years revenue cycle experience in a hospital or provider practice Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree Certification or training in Epic resolute ambulatory and hospital billing and A/R management 1+ years leadership experience 1+ years' experience managing a Wisconsin CAH revenue cycle department or function 1+ years' experience managing a RHC revenue cycle department or function Direct experience with process and quality improvement tools such as Six Sigma DMAIC and Lean Project management experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Understanding of hospital-based provider billing for Medicare and Medicaid in a Critical Access Hospital with Rural Health Clinic Maintain the integrity of highly confidential business and patient information Display and promote high standards of ethical conduct and behaviors consistent with organizational standards Exhibit excellent communication and organizational skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and electronic medical records Ability to manage conflicting priorities and handle multiple tasks/projects concurrently Ability to consistently carry out job responsibilities, able to acknowledge when commitments are not met, and take appropriate steps to fulfill responsibility Ability to clearly and effectively convey information to individuals or groups, including ability to choose the appropriate method or methods of communication Ability to analyze, identify, and solve problems while using sound judgment Exhibit an independent drive and demonstrated ability to lead change
