Portfolio Manager & Financial Planner Position Summary Raghu Rajagopalan, Wealth Management Advisor -Northwestern Mutual a dynamic and growing wealth management firm, is seeking a highly motivated Portfolio Manager/Financial Planner to join our team and support our mission of helping clients align their values, goals and wealth. The Portfolio Manager & Financial Planner is responsible for delivering customized investment management and comprehensive wealth planning solutions to high-net-worth individuals, families, retirees, and business owners. The role combines institutional-quality portfolio management with consultative financial planning to help clients achieve long-term financial objectives. The ideal candidate possesses strong investment acumen, exceptional relationship management skills, and the ability to translate complex financial concepts into actionable client strategies. Key Responsibilities Investment & Portfolio Management Portfolio Construction & Management Build and manage diversified investment portfolios aligned with client objectives, risk tolerance, tax considerations, liquidity needs, and investment policy guidelines. Develop strategic and tactical asset allocation recommendations. Conduct security, manager, mutual fund, ETF, and alternative investment due diligence. Oversee portfolio implementation, rebalancing, and trading activities. Monitor portfolio performance relative to benchmarks and client goals. Evaluate portfolio risk exposures and recommend appropriate adjustments. Investment Research & Market Analysis Analyze market trends, economic conditions, interest rate environments, and capital market developments. Participate in investment committee discussions and investment strategy development. Provide market commentary and portfolio updates to clients and internal stakeholders. Research investment opportunities across equity, fixed income, alternative, and private market asset classes. Risk Management Monitor concentration, liquidity, and portfolio-specific risks. Ensure portfolios remain aligned with investment policy statements and fiduciary standards. Implement tax-efficient investment strategies where appropriate. Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and firm investment guidelines. Financial Planning & Client Relationship Management Financial Planning Develop and deliver comprehensive financial plans covering: Retirement planning Income distribution strategies Tax-efficient wealth accumulation Education funding Estate planning coordination Insurance and risk management Charitable and legacy planning Use planning software and analytical tools to model client scenarios and recommendations. Collaborate with attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals to implement planning strategies. Client Relationship Management Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for assigned client relationships. Conduct annual and quarterly client review meetings. Present portfolio performance, investment recommendations, and financial planning updates. Help clients navigate major life transitions and financial decisions. Communicate proactively during periods of market volatility and economic uncertainty. Business Development & Growth Identify opportunities to deepen existing client relationships through additional planning and advisory services. Participate in prospect meetings and business development initiatives. Build referral relationships with centers of influence, including CPAs, estate attorneys, and business advisors. Support client acquisition and retention efforts. Contribute to overall growth of the firm's Assets Under Management (AUM) and revenue. Ideal Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or related field. Preferred Designations CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst) CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) CIMA® (Certified Investment Management Analyst) CPWA® (Certified Private Wealth Advisor) Experience 4+ years of experience in portfolio management, wealth management, investment advisory, or private banking. Demonstrated experience managing client portfolios and delivering financial planning advice. Experience working with High-Net-Worth (HNW) and Ultra-High-Net-Worth (UHNW) clients preferred.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
