Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Processing Specialist for a contract/temporary opportunity in El Monte, CA within the banking industry. This role is ideal for a banking operations professional with back office experience who enjoys balancing, research, transaction processing, and resolving time-sensitive exceptions with accuracy. The Processing Specialist will support critical bank operations functions, including GL balancing, return item processing, non-post transactions, exception handling, ATM balancing, adjustments, and bank record administration. This position offers the opportunity to work in a professional banking environment with collaborative teams, supportive leadership, and processes that value accuracy, integrity, accountability, and strong customer service. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform GL balancing, account reconciliation, ATM balancing, and related back office processing functions.
  • Process return items, non-post items, exception transactions, foreign items, and adjustment requests accurately and timely.
  • Research transaction issues and administer the creation, reproduction, and use of bank records in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Respond to customer inquiries clearly and professionally by phone and email.
  • Manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced banking operations environment while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment when completing assigned tasks. Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay range: $23 to $28 per hour.

  • Overtime may be required as needed. Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Perform GL balancing, reconciliations, ATM balancing, and transaction adjustments.
  • Process return items, non-post transactions, exception transactions, and foreign items.
  • Conduct banking research and manage bank records accurately and timely.
  • Handle customer inquiries through phone and email while maintaining professional service standards.
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Banking back office operations experience within a banking institution is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work in a fast-paced environment with sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong collaboration, integrity, dependability, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment.
  • Must adhere to established policies, procedures, and attendance requirements.
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with FIS IBS Insight systems is a plus.
