Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Two years of financial record keeping, accounting, auditing or related work experience.
Experience working with financial records, compliance standards, or internal controls.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Valid driver license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience in a large K-12 to public school district or governmental entity.
Experience supporting audits or compliance reviews.
Experience with financial systems or ERP platforms.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial recordkeeping practices.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and best practices related to the area of responsibility.
Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to review and interpret financial data for accuracy and completeness.
Ability to work collaboratively and professionally within a diverse work environment and willing to contribute to a team effort.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide day-to-day operational support to school and departmental Finance Specialists district financial procedures, processes, and requirements.
- Assist schools and departments with navigating financial systems, forms, workflows, and documentation requirements.
- Respond to support requests related to purchasing, budget transfers, internal funds, cash handling, reimbursements, and financial processing procedures.
- Assist in resolving routine operational issues and escalate complex matters as appropriate.
- Assist with onboarding and training of newly hired school and department Finance Specialists.
Provide temporary operational support to schools and departments experiencing Finance Specialist vacancies, extended absences, or transitional staffing situations by assisting with essential financial functions and ensuring continuity of critical financial operations and processes.
Provide follow-up support and procedural guidance after training sessions to reinforce understanding and operational consistency.
Support development and maintenance of training materials, job aids, procedural guides, and reference documents.
Assist in the coordination and documentation of annual training events, professional development opportunities, and procedural refreshers for school and department financial support staff.
Assist with compiling operational data, support metrics, and tracking data related to school financial support services.
Serve as a mentor for new Finance Specialists.
Assist with data analysis and reporting to support decision-making and operational improvements.
Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives related to financial operations and compliance.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
