Job Description

The City Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the City's financial and banking functions, including accounts payable, general ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliations, investments, financial records, and financial reporting. The Treasurer prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, assists with the annual audit and budget process, and ensures the City's financial records are accurate and maintained in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. The position works closely with the City Manager, City departments, financial institutions, auditors, state agencies, employees, and the public. The Treasurer also provides front-office assistance, serves as a City Notary Public, participates in required training, and performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of related experience and/or education required. A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial recordkeeping, computer systems, organization, communication, and analytical skills are required. Must be able to meet the requirements to be bonded under the City's plan.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, or emergency call-outs as needed.
