Full-Time | Permanent | City Government The City is seeking a professional, organized, and detail-oriented City Clerk / Finance Officer to join our municipal government team. This position plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of the City by overseeing municipal records, supporting the Board of Aldermen, assisting the public, monitoring City finances, and administering municipal elections. Key Responsibilities The City Clerk / Finance Officer will: Perform the legal and administrative duties of the City Clerk. Maintain official City records, minutes, ordinances, resolutions, contracts, deeds, bonds, and other municipal documents. Prepare meeting agendas, legal notices, bids, and public hearing notices. Attend City meetings and accurately record official actions. Provide public records and information to citizens, civic organizations, media, and other agencies. Assist the Board of Aldermen and members of the public. Administer business licenses and cemetery lot sales. Serve as a notary public. Monitor City finances, process receipts, balance cash drawers, and make deposits. Assist with the annual City budget and implement approved budget amendments. Maintain financial, accounting, payroll, and administrative records. Assist with bond issue information and related administrative responsibilities. Coordinate and administer municipal elections for Mayor and Board of Aldermen. Work with Election Commissioners and poll workers. Register voters and assist candidates throughout the election process. Coordinate poll worker training and election-related payments. Verify and post official election results. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Three or more years of experience in municipal government, finance, accounting, administration, records management, or a related field preferred. Ability to obtain and maintain applicable City Clerk certification. Experience with municipal government, elections, accounting, or public records is preferred. The position is primarily performed indoors in an office environment and may require attendance at evening meetings, election activities, or other City functions. The position may also require availability to respond to emergency or urgent City matters when necessary.
