Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Budget, Financial Planning, and Analysis, the Budget & Financial Operations Specialists supports strategic decision-making and financial stewardship at Franklin & Marshall College. This position serves as the primary operational contact and partner for campus budget managers. This role processes entries, generates campus-wide reports, and delivers continuous training, freeing strategic bandwidth for long-term institutional modeling.

Essential Functions:

Serve as the primary point of contact for campus departments regarding budget inquiries, line-item transfers, and routine balance reconciliations. Prepare, verify, and execute budget adjustments, journal entries in alignment with institutional compliance. Analyze complex financial data and trends to support budget development, variance analysis, and institutional reporting. Design and conduct onboarding and ongoing budget training for new and existing budget managers to ensure compliance with college financial policies. Conduct variance analyses and assist the Director with data gathering for strategic initiatives and forecasting. Provide analytics for institutional initiatives, including new academic programs, facilities planning, resource allocations and realignments. Lead and support special projects, including cost-benefit analyses, benchmarking studies, and scenario planning. All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. At least 3 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or planning. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting. Proficiency with Excel and experience with financial systems. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in Google Suite Products (Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Drive) Evidence of a commitment to community & belonging. Successful interview. Successful completion of background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree (MBA, MPA, or related field). Experience with Banner. Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations. Familiarity with fund accounting and institutional budget models.
