About the Position The Tribal Funding Specialist oversees tracking of potential tribal funding for new and continuing tribal students, works with academics regarding student schedules, and processes documents necessary for students to obtain tribal scholarship and enterprise funding, with minimal supervision from Tribal Operations Leadership. The Tribal Funding Specialist is the expert regarding the relationship between the use of tribal funding, Title IV funding, and recommending the appropriate application to minimize the use of student loans and increasing retention of tribal students. What You'll Do 1. Track all tribal student deadlines to ensure documents are requested and sent to tribal higher education offices as required for new and continued tribal funding. 2. Request needed documents from the registrar's office to facilitate students' applications for tribal funding. Ensure all necessary documents, including but not limited to students' schedules, enrollment agreements and admission letters, are in order and in compliance with University and tribal policy. 3. Perform basic review of students' scheduling, including scheduling or requesting the correct first class as needed. 4. Provide guidance to the TOS and students regarding tribal funding/benefit eligibility based on the tribal directory. 5. Analyze and provide solutions to potential funding impacts from schedule changes. 6. Provide guidance to the accounting department and finance advisors regarding application of tribal funding. 7. Provide audits and solutions regarding excess/shortfall in funding, application of funds including cost of attendance, and continuing traditional/non-traditional deadlines. 8. Provide guidance to the Non-Federal Resources department regarding the completion of tribal financial needs analysis forms as well as the application of tribal funds within title IV academic years. 9. Collaborate with Tribal Operations Specialists, internal departments, and tribal entities to ensure student retention and tribal funding within Tribal Operations. 10. - Bachelor's degree
- Three (3) years of experience in higher education or tribal scholarship processing
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience working with tribal enrollment and finance processes, including the guidelines for Title IV funding
- Strong organization and critical thinking skills
- Good telephone and interpersonal skills
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and Word
