Financial Advisor and FAFSA Specialist
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides personalized financial counseling to prospective and current undergraduate students, guiding them on college financial planning and funding options. The role delivers individualized FAFSA support, assisting students and families with application completion, verification requirements, and professional judgment processes. The specialist also provides loan counseling, explaining borrowing options and helping complete required documentation. Serving as a liaison with federal systems and agencies, they manage data exchanges and processing through institutional platforms. Additionally, the position maintains financial aid website content, ensures compliance with consumer information requirements, and performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Financial Counselor Prospective students and current undergraduate students Advises on college financial planning 2. Provides individualized FAFSA counseling Assist students/parents with completing a FAFSA Coordinates with financial aid staff members to process professional judgements related to the FAFSA Coordinates with financial aid staff members to assist students in completing documents required for verification 3. Provides individualized loan counseling Advise students/parents of loan options Assist students/parents in filling out loan documents 4. Liaison US Department of Education, COD Processing, NSLDS Processing Center, EDconnect Sends and receive ISIR data files, COD data files, and other data files through the institution's SAIG mailbox 5. Website Maintains and updates Student Financial Services pages on the university website Coordinates with College Raptor to maintain Net Price Calculator Maintain required consumer information related to financial aid Reviews validity of external scholarships before they are posted on the website 6. Performs other duties as assigned formally or informally, orally or in writing
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Minimum BA/BS degree in Business or Computer Science preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
N/A Experience/Skills Years of experience: 2-3 years, 3+ years preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with PeopleSoft and/or Student Information Systems Preferred
