Job Description
Financial Accounting & Reporting Manager Regional School District 17 - Higganum, CT RSD17 is seeking an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in governmental accounting and Connecticut public school finance, ready to ensure the district's financial accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness. Position Overview The Financial Accounting & Reporting Manager oversees district accounting and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with governmental accounting standards. This role manages the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, coordinates the district's annual audit process, reviews and reconciles accounts and transactions, and serves as administrator for the district's financial software system, working closely with the Director of Finance on special projects and process improvements. Education & Experience At least (5) years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in a public accounting firm Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred Municipal or Regional School District accounting and/or auditing experience required, CPA preferred Ability to prioritize daily tasks and meet timely obligations Knowledge of complex accounting processes, journal entries, and advanced mathematical skills Skilled in setting up and maintaining various accounting/financial management software platforms, and have experience in troubleshooting common accounting program problems Strong organizational skills and effective problem-solving skills Effective communication skills are required, including written, verbal, and conflict resolution proficiency Other qualifications the Board may deem appropriate
Certification & Licenses:
Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.Compensation:
$110,000 - $122,000, commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications, experience, and demonstrated expertise. Comprehensive benefits package included.Application Information:
