Job Description

The Financial Reporting Manager will report to the Financial Reporting Senior Manager and will own core pieces of the quarterly and annual reporting process. The role will support 10-Q and 10-K preparation, standalone financial statements for key entities, MD&A, disclosure support, Workiva administration, audit requests, and financial statement analytics. This is a hands-on manager role for someone who can prepare, review, improve, and document reporting processes to a public-company standard as well as develop and lead a strong team after establishing processes. Fervo is scaling rapidly, so this role requires strong ownership, crisp communication, a controls mindset, and the ability to partner effectively across Accounting, Finance, Operations, Legal, Tax, Treasury, Commercial, and external advisors. Responsibilities SEC Reporting and External Reporting Support preparation of SEC filings, including Form 10-Q, Form 10-K, footnotes, supporting schedules, and tie-out documentation Coordinate Workiva reporting workflows, disclosure checklist completion, outsourced XBRL tagging, and document control processes Prepare and review reporting calendars, PBC lists, disclosure support, flux analyses, and other quarterly reporting deliverables Partner with Legal, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Technical Accounting to gather complete and accurate inputs for reporting Maintain audit-ready support for MD&A, footnotes including related-party disclosures, contingencies, debt, equity, leases, commitments, and subsequent events Standalone Financial Statements and Audit Support Support standalone financial statement preparation for existing and future entities Manage audit and quarterly review requests from external auditors, including clear ownership, deadlines, support quality, and status tracking Prepare financial statement roll forwards, account analyses, and documentation that allow reviewers and auditors to reperform key conclusions Coordinate with the close team to ensure trial balance, eliminations, allocations, and reporting data are ready for external reporting timelines Close Reporting, Controls and Process Improvement Support monthly and quarterly reporting close, including trial balance review, entity-level reporting, reporting packages, and variance analysis Help administer GL reporting structures, chart of accounts changes, period open and close discipline, and reporting mappings Build process narratives, desktop procedures, and control documentation for financial reporting processes Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting, tie-out, and audit support activities using Workiva, close tools, Excel, and AI-enabled documentation support Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 6+ years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience, including public accounting, SEC reporting, or public-company reporting exposure Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial statement presentation, footnote support, and quarterly close/reporting processes Experience preparing or reviewing audit-ready workpapers, financial statement schedules, tie-outs, and variance analyses Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with complex trial balances, reporting packages, and supporting schedules Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet hard reporting deadlines Clear written communication style and ability to translate complex accounting and reporting matters into actionable deliverables Preferred Qualifications CPA strongly preferred Big Four or national public accounting experience Experience with Workiva, FloQast or similar close tools, ERP/reporting systems, and XBRL workflows Experience in energy, infrastructure, renewable power, project finance, or multi-entity environments SOX readiness, internal controls, or IPO readiness experience Location Fervo Energy has offices in Houston, TX, Golden, CO, Reno, NV, Oakland, CA, and Salt Lake City, UT. This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at our Houston Office will be required.
