Job Description

Job Summary As a Member Service Representative, you'll be one of the first people our members meet when they walk into the branch. In our universal banking environment, you'll assist members with a variety of financial needs—from everyday teller transactions and account servicing to opening accounts, answering questions, identifying financial solutions, and supporting lending needs. Instead of working behind a traditional teller line, this position offers a more personalized, full-service member experience. You'll work directly with members throughout their visit, handling transactions and service needs while building lasting relationships through exceptional service. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in accuracy, professionalism, and creating a welcoming experience for every member. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Greet members warmly and assist with a broad range of banking needs, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, check cashing, cash handling, and other teller transactions. Provide transaction services within a universal banking environment rather than a traditional teller-line setting. Open and maintain member accounts, assist with account servicing requests, and help members understand available account features and services. Process financial transactions accurately using financial software and 10-key typing skills while maintaining appropriate cash controls and balancing standards. Identify member needs and recommend appropriate credit union products and services, including checking and savings accounts, loans, credit options, and digital banking services. Manage member relationships by providing personalized support, addressing inquiries promptly, resolving routine account issues, and fostering trust through excellent customer service. Assist members with online and mobile banking, debit cards, account access, and other self-service or digital banking tools. Detect and prevent fraud by monitoring transactions for suspicious activity, verifying member identity, and following established fraud prevention and security protocols. Assist with loan origination processes by collecting necessary documentation, verifying information, processing applications, and supporting members throughout the lending process. Perform account maintenance and other member-service functions as needed, including updating member information and assisting with routine account requests. Maintain detailed and accurate records, adhere to applicable policies and compliance requirements, and protect the confidentiality of member information. Work collaboratively with other team members and assist across branch functions as needed to provide a seamless member experience. What We're Looking For Prior experience in customer service, banking, cash handling, retail, or a similar member-facing environment is preferred. Experience performing teller transactions, opening accounts, or providing financial services is advantageous but not required. Knowledge of financial sales techniques, relationship management strategies, and banking operations is beneficial. Familiarity with financial software systems and basic cash handling procedures is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills with a friendly, professional demeanor and the ability to build rapport with members. Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately manage transactions, documentation, and multiple member needs. A proactive approach to identifying financial solutions and recommending products while maintaining integrity and compliance standards. Comfort working in a universal banking environment where responsibilities may range from teller transactions to account servicing, lending support, and relationship management. Why You'll Enjoy Working Here At Multi-States Credit Union, we believe strong work should fit into a healthy life: Monday through Friday schedule: No regular evenings, weekends, or after-hours work.
