Job Description

Performs collection job duties involved in administering self-pay patient accounts, patient liability of insurance accounts and duties related to collecting payments for delinquent accounts. Processes and verifies Medicaid and Insurance eligibility on all self-pay hospital and clinic bills. Works closely with 3rd party collection agency to ensure accounts are accurately taken care of. Collectors are to ensure patients are up to date on payment plans as well as coordinate with other 3rd party payers when necessary. Follow up and maintain LOP and Bankruptcies. Pursues collection process on all accounts by contacting the patient by phone calls, letters, and discuss any in house discount programs available to self-pay patients. Establish payment arrangements with patients and document in EMR system.

Verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors in accordance with third party reporting process.

Answer telephone inquiries regarding bills, routing, or procedures. Contact customers to obtain or relay account Information.

  • Bilingual preferred but not required Experience Six months to one year related experience and/or training, including customer service; or equivalent combination of education and experience; medical terminology, medical insurance experience preferred but not required.
