Job Description
Business & Ag Banker Position Summary A successful Business and Ag Banker will be responsible for developing, managing, and expanding relationships with small to mid-sized business clients. This role serves as a trusted advisor to the bank's clients. Primary responsibilities will include the management and growth of a portfolio of business and ag banking clients. The successful Business & Ag Banker works closely with clients to understand their financial needs, support business growth, and achieve the bank's sales and profitability objectives. Key Responsibilities Relationship Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with business clients and prospects. Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial, small business, and ag banking customers. Conduct regular customer meetings to understand financial goals, challenges, and opportunities. Deliver exceptional customer service and proactive financial guidance. Business Development Generate new business through referrals, networking, community involvement, and prospecting activities. Identify cross-selling opportunities and recommend appropriate banking products and services. Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective clients to achieve growth goals. Committed to meaningful roles in community organizations. Represent the bank at community and business events. Lending and Credit Analysis Evaluate client financing needs and recommend lending solutions. Gather, analyze, and review financial statements, tax returns, and other credit-related documentation. Prepare loan packages and present recommendations for approval. Monitor existing loan portfolios to ensure quality and compliance. Treasury and Deposit Services Advise clients on cash management, treasury services, business checking, and savings. Identify opportunities to improve clients' operational efficiency through banking technology and solutions. Assist clients with treasury implementation and service enhancements. Risk Management and Compliance Ensure adherence to all banking regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintain accurate customer records and documentation. Monitor accounts for potential risk issues and escalate concerns as appropriate. Complete all required compliance and risk management training. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Agri-Business, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred. Experience 3-10 years of banking, business banking, ag banking, commercial lending, or financial services experience preferred. Proven success in business development and relationship management. Experience analyzing financial statements and creditworthiness. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of business banking products and services. Knowledge of commercial / ag lending and credit underwriting principles. Excellent sales, negotiation, and client relationship skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and banking platforms. Performance Metrics New business relationships established. Loan and deposit portfolio growth. Referrals to related bank departments - residential mortgage and investment services Client retention and satisfaction. Portfolio quality and credit performance. Achievement of the bank's annual sales and revenue goals. Working Conditions Primarily office-based with regular travel within the local market for client meetings, networking events, and business development activities. May require occasional evening or weekend attendance at community and business events. Salary Base wage plus incentive compensation, depending on experience, market, and production levels. Salary presented is an estimated range and can be customized based on experience.
