Job Description

Prior Authorization Specialist:
Abay Neuroscience Center is a busy Neurosurgery Practice with 7 neurosurgeons. The prior authorization specialist verifies insurance eligibility, submits patient services such as imaging and/or surgery to insurance companies for approval. Also the specialist tracks the status of authorizations, assists with denials, collects pertinent information from other providers and facilitates expedited reviews. The specialist submits most requests electronically but also communicates with insurance companies per telephone. The specialist works closely with physicians and other health care professionals. Prefer experience with understanding of medical terminology and insurance policies but will also provide training if no experience. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and computer proficiency. Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
