$40,500-$55,000 per year Position Summary Washington Vascular Specialists is seeking an experienced Billing Specialist with strong Prior Authorization and Insurance Verification experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical practice, specialty practice, or surgical setting. OBL, ASC, vascular, cardiovascular, interventional radiology, or other procedural/surgical experience is strongly preferred. This is an in-office position in Takoma Park, MD , with initial training at our Largo, MD location . Key Responsibilities Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and patient coverage. Obtain and track prior authorizations and pre-certifications for procedures and diagnostic services. Review deductibles, copays, coinsurance, referrals, and authorization requirements. Communicate with insurance carriers regarding benefits, authorizations, claims, and denials. Submit clinical documentation and medical records required for authorizations. Follow up on pending authorizations to prevent procedure delays or cancellations. Maintain accurate authorization information and documentation in the patient's record. Assist with denied/rejected claims, billing discrepancies, and payer follow-up. Coordinate with providers, scheduling, clinical staff, and billing teams. Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality. Qualifications Medical billing, prior authorization, and insurance verification experience required. Medical office, specialty practice, surgical center, OBL, or ASC experience preferred . Knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care plans. Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 codes preferred. Experience with EMR/practice management systems; Athena/athenaOne experience is a plus . Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and follow-through. High school diploma or equivalent required.
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
$40,500-$55,000 annually , based on experience and qualifications.
