Our Insurance Coordinator plays an important role in helping our patients understand their dental insurance benefits while ensuring our practice maintains accurate and timely insurance processes. This position will also serve as the go-to resource for insurance questions throughout the practice and will work closely with our doctors, clinical team, scheduling team, and administrative team. We are looking for someone who enjoys helping people, solving problems, staying organized, and working as part of a team. Dental experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. What You'll Do Insurance & Claims Verify and review patient dental insurance benefits and eligibility Obtain and document accurate insurance information Provide patients and team members with clear explanations of insurance benefits and coverage Prepare and submit dental insurance claims Attach required documentation, narratives, x-rays, perio charts, and other supporting information Monitor outstanding and pending claims and follow up with insurance companies Post insurance payments and adjustments accurately Research and resolve claim discrepancies, denials, and payment issues File and manage insurance appeals Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and compare payments to expected insurance benefits Identify underpayments and discrepancies and take appropriate action Maintain accurate insurance records and patient account information Stay current on insurance plans, policies, regulations, and changes that affect our patients and practice Serve as the go-to insurance resource for the entire team, answering questions and helping team members navigate insurance-related situations Patient Financial Support Help patients understand their insurance benefits, estimated insurance coverage, and financial responsibility Communicate financial information confidently, professionally, and compassionately Help patients understand why insurance may or may not cover certain procedures Assist patients with questions regarding insurance claims, payments, and balances Build trust with patients by making the insurance process easier and less confusing Front Office Team Support Support the check-in and check-out teams as needed Assist with answering phones and directing patient calls Help with patient questions and general administrative needs Assist the scheduling team with insurance-related questions that affect scheduling and treatment Work collaboratively with the Treatment Coordinators and Scheduling Coordinators Step in where needed to help the front office run smoothly and provide an exceptional patient experience Team & Office Support Communicate effectively with doctors and team members regarding insurance and patient accounts Help identify opportunities to improve insurance processes and collections Maintain confidentiality and protect patient information Participate in team meetings, training, and continuing education Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-focused work environment Take initiative and help wherever needed — we believe in being a team player and doing the next right thing What We're Looking For Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Exceptional attention to detail Confidence discussing finances and insurance benefits Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills Ability to research, investigate, and resolve insurance issues Exceptional customer service mindset Ability to build rapport and earn patient trust Ability to communicate complex insurance information in a simple, easy-to-understand way Positive attitude and team-first mentality Ability to work independently while also knowing when to ask questions Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Dental experience and insurance knowledge preferred, but we are willing to train the right person with exceptional people skills and a willingness to learn What You'll Love About Working Here Supportive team culture Growth-focused leadership Opportunities for professional development Meaningful work that impacts patients' lives every day A positive workplace that values both excellence and fun A team that genuinely supports one another An opportunity to grow your skills and take ownership of an important role within the practice If you're looking for more than just a job and want to be part of a growing team that truly makes a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
