Farmers Insurance agencies throughout the Grand Rapids area are looking for motivated individuals to begin a career in insurance as an Agent in Training . You don't need previous insurance experience to be considered. We're interested in people who are confident communicating with others, willing to learn, and ready to put in the effort to build a successful career. If you've worked in sales, retail, restaurants, hospitality, banking, leasing, automotive, healthcare, customer service, or another people-focused role, your experience may translate better to insurance than you think. What You'll Do As an Agent in Training, you'll learn the insurance business while gaining hands-on sales experience. Depending on the agency, your day may include: Connecting with prospective customers through leads, referrals, and outreach Asking questions to understand each customer's needs Preparing quotes and explaining available coverage options Helping customers with Auto, Home, Life, Business, and other insurance products Following up with prospective customers throughout the sales process Building long-term relationships with new and existing clients Working toward individual and team sales goals Managing leads and follow-up activity through agency systems Participating in ongoing sales, product, and professional development training You Could Be a Great Fit If You Enjoy talking with people and building relationships Are comfortable communicating over the phone Like having goals to work toward Are motivated by performance and earning potential Can stay persistent when you hear "no" Take feedback well and want to continue improving Are dependable, organized, and willing to take initiative Want a career with opportunities to grow beyond your starting position Previous insurance experience is not required. Licensing and Training Because you'll be selling insurance, you'll need to obtain the appropriate insurance licensing. If you're not currently licensed, that's okay . Qualified candidates can receive access to pre-licensing resources to help prepare for the state exam, along with continued training and coaching as they develop in the role.
