POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Department Manager to lead its Commercial Lines Account Management team. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for the department's performance, organization, employee development, and daily operations. The Department Manager's primary responsibility is to lead and support the Commercial Lines Account Managers. The manager will oversee workloads, establish service standards, monitor performance, develop team members, and ensure client accounts are handled accurately, efficiently, and professionally. Direct client involvement will generally be limited to escalated matters, unusual circumstances, or situations requiring management-level judgment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and supervise the Commercial Lines Account Management team. Establish expectations for performance, accountability, communication, and client service. Assign and balance workloads to maintain timely service and appropriate departmental coverage. Monitor workflow, productivity, accuracy, responsiveness, and service quality. Coach, train, and develop team members. Provide performance feedback, conduct evaluations, and address performance concerns. Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new employees. Ensure commercial accounts are serviced consistently and in accordance with agency procedures. Oversee renewals, endorsements, certificates of insurance, audits, policy reviews, cancellations, claims support, and other account-servicing activities. Ensure account records and activities are properly documented in AMS360. Improve departmental procedures, workflows, and service standards. Ensure compliance with agency policies, carrier requirements, regulations, and industry practices. Assist with complex or escalated client, coverage, carrier, and service matters. Coordinate with agency leadership, producers, carriers, underwriters, and other departments. Keep agency leadership informed of department performance, staffing needs, workflow concerns, and significant client matters.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
At least four years of commercial-lines insurance experience Strong knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, policies, terminology, and servicing procedures Proficiency with AMS360 Active California Property and Casualty insurance license. Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or team-management ability Strong organizational and workload-management skills Ability to coach employees and provide constructive feedback Sound judgment when handling complex or sensitive situations Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supervising Commercial Lines Account Managers. Experience developing departmental procedures, workflows, and performance standards Experience managing escalated commercial-lines coverage or client-service matters Familiarity with a broad range of commercial insurance products and account types Strong understanding of A.I. and the benefits of its utilization Professional insurance designations or relevant continuing education

Pay:
$130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
