Insurance Sales Representative - Training & Licensing Provided Build a serious sales career with an award-winning local insurance agency where your performance can create real income and growth opportunities. Breaking into insurance can be difficult on your own—getting licensed is only the first step, and trying to learn the business without the right training, leads, systems, and team can make an already challenging career much harder. At the Terry Smith Agency, we help the right people get licensed and give them the coaching, opportunities, and support needed to actually build a career after they earn it. We are looking for driven, intelligent people who know they are capable of more and want an environment where effort, improvement, and performance matter. Already licensed or have some insurance experience? Even better. If you have started in insurance but have not yet found the right environment to develop, we would like to talk with you too. The Opportunity Insurance can become a serious long-term career, but success requires much more than simply passing a licensing exam. You have to learn how to talk with clients, understand coverage, manage leads, follow up consistently, build trust, handle rejection, and turn opportunities into business—all while doing the job accurately and professionally. Trying to learn all of that alone can be difficult. Here, you are joining an established team with training, coaching, systems, leads, experienced people to learn from, and a strong reputation already behind you. You may be a great fit if you have already shown that you can succeed in: Sales Retail Restaurants or hospitality Automotive Wireless Banking Customer service Athletics or competitive team environments Another position where effort, communication, and performance matter We care more about your ability, work ethic, competitiveness, and potential than whether your résumé already says "insurance." Why Join the Terry Smith Agency? You are joining an established, award-winning agency—not a new office where you are expected to figure everything out on your own. Our agency has built a strong reputation by taking care of clients, being involved in our community, developing our people, and holding ourselves to a high professional standard.
You will have access to:
An established agency and client base Leads and sales opportunities Training and coaching Proven systems and technology Experienced team members to learn from A strong local reputation Opportunities to grow as your skills and performance grow We want to win, but we care just as much about how we win . Our clients matter. Our reputation matters. Our team matters. For someone who has the ability and work ethic but has not yet found the right career opportunity, this can be a place to build one. What You'll Do As an Insurance Sales Representative, you will work with prospective clients who need help protecting their homes, vehicles, families, and financial future.
You will:
Speak with prospective clients by phone Respond to inbound sales opportunities and new leads Follow up with people who have requested insurance information Work existing sales opportunities and build new ones Ask questions to understand each client's situation Prepare and present insurance quotes Explain coverage clearly so clients can make informed decisions Build relationships and earn new business Ask for referrals Manage leads and follow-up through our CRM Complete new-business documentation accurately Work with the rest of the agency to create a strong client experience What We're Looking For We can teach insurance. We can teach our systems. We can teach our sales process. What is much harder to teach is drive, reliability, curiosity, competitiveness, communication skills, and the willingness to improve.
Strong candidates tend to:
Learn quickly Communicate well with different types of people Work hard without needing constant supervision Like having goals to work toward Be competitive and motivated by results Follow through on commitments Handle rejection and keep moving Take coaching and feedback well Want to continuously improve Be comfortable being accountable for their performance Work well as part of a team Take pride in doing things correctly Previous sales or customer-facing experience is helpful, but it is not required. Training & Licensing Insurance is a professional career, and there is a real learning curve. Passing the licensing exam is the beginning—not the finish line. If you are not currently licensed, we will help guide you through the licensing process. Once licensed, you will continue learning through structured training, coaching, real client conversations, and ongoing feedback.
Training includes:
Insurance products and coverage Sales conversations Quoting systems Lead management Prospect follow-up CRM systems Client communication Documentation and compliance Ongoing sales coaching and development If you already have applicable insurance licensing or experience, you may be able to move through portions of onboarding more quickly and begin building momentum sooner. Performance Matters This is a sales position. You will have access to training, coaching, systems, leads, and opportunities to speak with prospective clients. In return, we expect effort, professionalism, accountability, and a willingness to improve. Successful producers do not wait for opportunities to come to them. They answer the phone. They contact leads. They follow up. They ask for referrals. They create conversations. They keep improving. At the same time, we will never sacrifice doing the right thing for a sale. Insurance can have a major impact on someone's financial security. Our job is to educate clients, recommend appropriate coverage, and help them make informed decisions. This May Be the Opportunity You're Looking For Maybe you are doing well where you are, but there is not much room to grow. Maybe you have always been competitive and good with people but have not yet found the right professional career. Maybe you have already earned an insurance license or started in the industry, but you have not had the training, opportunities, or environment you need to really get moving. Or maybe you simply know you are capable of more than what your current position gives you the opportunity to prove. We are less concerned with finding someone with the perfect résumé than we are with finding someone with the potential to become excellent. If you believe that could be you, apply. We would like to talk with you.
