Job Description

Benefits Counselor - CL Are you looking for an opportunity with flexibility, purpose, and growth? As an independent Benefits Counselor partnered with Colonial Life, you'll be able to make a difference while benefiting from Colonial Life's 80+ years of integrity, collaboration, and innovation that supports independent agents with a people-first culture. We are seeking motivated, independent sales agents in WA/AK to offer voluntary benefits that provide financial protection during life's unexpected events. As a Benefits Counselor, you'll provide prospective clients with the essential guidance and unwavering support they need to make confident, informed decisions about protecting themselves and their families. Additionally, this opportunity offers a flexible schedule, allowing you to balance your work and personal commitments effectively.
Successful Benefits Counselors focus on:
  • Acquiring a broad knowledge of group and individual voluntary product portfolio and service offerings, including Colonial Life's products and services
  • Attending group meetings and preparing employee enrollment packets (brochures, forms, rate sheets, etc.).
  • Conducting 1-to-1 enrollment sessions and enrolling new policies.
Beneficial Experience and/or
Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence, persuade, and communicate effectively (oral and written).
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive, results-driven with a "can-do" attitude and strong commitment.
  • Proficient in health insurance and Microsoft Excel.
  • Life and health license required (can be obtained through Colonial Life).
Compensation:
As a Benefits Counselor, you have the potential to earn competitive commissions based on sales results, including renewal income and bonuses. You will have access to training and development. You may also choose to become a member of the Association of Insurance Professionals (AIP), which can provide access to exclusive perks, discounts, and benefits. This is an independent contractor opportunity in which you are in business for yourself but not by yourself. Any income range associated with this posting represents the potential pre-tax earnings of a business owner in this role, not a guaranteed salary or guaranteed earnings. All earnings in this role are sales results-based and uncapped, with a tremendous potential for growth based on your business acumen.
