Recommends customers to be approved for insurance coverage, and develops policies and premium levels. Reviews loan applications, evaluates credit-worthiness of loan applicants and analyzes the investment risk of a loan for the bank. Evaluates risk in different types of securities and advises clients on investments that will yield highest profits.

Job Description

Overview The underwriter administers the underwriting and servicing of new and renewal accounts for agents and producers assigned within the territory. in compliance with company underwriting, authority and pricing standards. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization.
Responsibilities Responsibilities:
1. Write and retain a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing and servicing. Maintains compliance with state filings and adheres to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines. Operate within written authority grant and makes referrals to Regional Manager as required 2. Collaborate closely with territory team. Keep peers and Territory Management informed of all issues and activity and competitive information. 3. Collaborate with Regional Sales Manager and Business Generation Consultants to develop agency relationships and share accountability with team in meeting territory goals. 4. Educate agents on underwriting appetite to attract profitable business within the assigned territory. 5. Travel in the territory to meet with agents to further develop business relationships as needed. 6. Actively plan and participate in industry events as required such as but not limited to agency or association conventions. 7. Provide professional, timely and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross departmental staff to successfully resolve issues pertaining to policyholders and territory producers. 8. Provide pertinent information and guidance to operations staff required to process coverage requests in accordance with service guidelines. 9. Assist in gathering and sharing competitive information as well as keep current with market trends and demands. 10. Keeps current with market trends and demands. 11. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 5+ years of commercial lines property and casualty experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with and expert technical knowledge of commercial casualty, property, automobile, BOP, Commercial Package and umbrella insurance coverage and risk selection, methods and pricing including demonstrated experience utilizing ISO Classifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze data and make an informed, calculated risk decision
  • Ability to make sound contributions to tactical and strategic planning
  • Ability to train, coach and mentor individuals of various backgrounds within area of expertise
Preferred:
  • CPCU, AIS or CIC designation preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
